Anaheim to vote on Kings relocation costs

The cost of moving the Sacramento Kings to Anaheim starts at $75 million.



The city of Anaheim owns the Honda Center. Built in 1993, it is only marginally larger than Arco Arena but is considered much nicer.

Kings clue? Anaheim may issue bonds to upgrade Honda Center

In what may be another clue that the Sacramento Kings are headed to Anaheim, the Orange County city is considering issuing bonds for improvements to its Honda Center arena, according to city notices published Thursday and Friday.



Anaheim’s Honda Center is newer and fancier than Power Balance Pavilion. Sacramento is a mid-sized market with an old arena, says Mayor Kevin Johnson, and the Kings owners need to do what works best for them. “Even if our team is selling out,” he says, ” … it’s hard economically to compete.”

Sacramento now is no more than Plan B for the Sacramento Kings.



Anaheim’s Honda Center is newer and fancier than Power Balance Pavilion. Sacramento is a mid-sized market with an old arena, says Mayor Kevin Johnson, and the Kings owners need to do what works best for them. “Even if our team is selling out,” he says, ” … it’s hard economically to compete.”

In Anaheim, Kings would no longer be the biggest game around

Swarms of ticket buyers await the Sacramento Kings in Orange County. So does a nicer arena, with marble floors and gourmet food. Not to mention a lucrative television market.
