Anaheim arena operator would loan Maloofs $50 million

Anaheim arena officials are willing to spend millions of dollars to lure the Sacramento Kings, but the financial package isn’t completely a gift.

Anaheim to vote on Kings relocation costs

The cost of moving the Sacramento Kings to Anaheim starts at $75 million.



The city of Anaheim owns the Honda Center. Built in 1993, it is only marginally larger than Arco Arena but is considered much nicer.

Kings blog: City of Sacramento directs Anaheim to stop negotiations with Kings

Sacramento city officials Monday fired off a terse letter to the city of Anaheim warning it to cease negotiations with the Sacramento Kings.

Anaheim proposes spending $75 million to lure Kings

Anaheim officials would issue $75 million in bonds to lure the Kings from Sacramento, according to city documents released today.

Kings clue? Anaheim may issue bonds to upgrade Honda Center

In what may be another clue that the Sacramento Kings are headed to Anaheim, the Orange County city is considering issuing bonds for improvements to its Honda Center arena, according to city notices published Thursday and Friday.



Anaheim’s Honda Center is newer and fancier than Power Balance Pavilion. Sacramento is a mid-sized market with an old arena, says Mayor Kevin Johnson, and the Kings owners need to do what works best for them. “Even if our team is selling out,” he says, ” … it’s hard economically to compete.”

Kings name wouldn’t move to Anaheim

It’s still uncertain where Sacramento’s basketball team will play next year, but one thing is clear: If they move to Anaheim, they’ll no longer be Kings.
